It started with Horsemakers, web-based utility where you can design and put together a horse by mixing colours, mane, tail, markings. Then you can dress it up with tack that represents colours you can really find in tack shops.

There are now some basic-coloured lead ropes in both the Showmanship/Handlers and the Halters & Blankets horsemakers. Should help with planning your “show colors” or “barn colors”. The showmanship page also now has a few basic congress-cut style stockhorse show halters. Arabian halters and other breed show halters will come too.
More still to come.

Martingales and nosebands/tie-downs. Running martingales, standing martingales, etc. And coloured reins too, like for jumping, or for gaming like barrels and poles.
More colours forthcoming, just the basics gone up tonight.

Horse in Harness
I love combined driving. It’s cool to watch and I’d love to do it some day. I have 4 horses… think my mistmatched team of ranch horses, half-arab jumpers, and dressage horses will do the trick?
Not that you can tell with this guy and his blinkers on, but you can now make any horse have a blue eye.
One major catastrophe and one major horse show are now behind us (not related) and some updates will be going up over the next few days. In the meantime, there will be a chance of minor glitches or outages as files are being reshuffled or moved around. If you experience any, please remember to (1) clear your cache and then (2) try again. If there’s a problem that isn’t resolved, comment here so I can track it down and

And you DO NOT NEED TO LOG IN to use the horsemakers.

So the fleabitten grey body base has been added to all the Horsemaker versions now.

I’m tinkering away at the handler/showmanship at halter version, it’s barely started, but it’s there. Just need to finish the base items for the show shirts, jackets, pants, boots, etc. to dress up the person, and some blingy show halters for the horse. Banded mane and more colours too! I’m motivated to add more pieces to represent the NSH and Arab types, since I’m now roped into my Barn Owner’s Arab club, and I have never been to a flashier show than the Royal Red.
The computer wrinkles are shaking out at last, and I’m making a “to-do” list of things to add. What would you like to see added to the Horsemakers, or to the Snafflez website? What would you vote for having done first? I’ll use the answers to this post to help decide what to add first.
Don’t forget you can always email to design@snafflez.com with any suggestions, ideas, or submissions for the gallery.
Hey just so it’s clear, you don’t have to “log in” to do anything on this site.
Now that the crazies of Christmas are behind us, might get some new stuff up here soon. Only problem is our riding club is hosting a couple clinics and a horse show in the next few weeks, and I have to help with that. Oh and we bought another horse. And then there’s that whole “day job” thing which is not insignificant and pays the bills.
So as soon as I get a chance to add things here, I will. It’s just a matter of having time.
Snafflez groweth.
This space is most definitely, finally, under construction.
The Horsemakers are still there. Look to your right to see the links.
Check back, because you might not believe it but there’s more to be uploaded. Riders and showmanship handlers, for example. Ponies, drafts. Fleabitten greys. Bosals.
And more yet to come. More than just horsemakers. I’ve been maintaining elsewhere a list of show tips and rules, about what bits are allowed, what to wear, when not to use SMBs, when to braid, and most of all, what NOT to do. I’ll be moving that here. Like the Horsemakers, I started collecting all that info for myself, as a newbie to the horseworld, and the best way to keep it handy for me is to stick it on the internetz. And whatever else I can randomly decide to post.
Why the change??
- winter’s here
- it’s easier to update the non-Horsemaker stuff, like show tips, colour genetics, whatever
- it’s prettier
- it’s easier to manage the gallery of submitted images
- for that matter, it’s easier to get feedback and comments
